UGM Sanctions Perpetrators of Sexual Violence at Faculty of Pharmacy
The sexual violence (SV) case that occurred at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has drawn public attention after being widely reported by the media in recent weeks. The incident came to light after a report was submitted to the Faculty of Pharmacy in July 2024. This report marked the beginning of the official handling process by the relevant institutional bodies.
In response to the report, the leadership of the Faculty of Pharmacy promptly coordinated with and reported the case to the UGM Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). This step was part of the faculty's institutional commitment to address the issue in accordance with applicable regulations.
The UGM PPKS Task Force responded swiftly to the case. One of the initial actions taken was providing support and assistance to the victim to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the process. This support is a crucial element in handling sexual violence cases, as it helps ensure that victims do not feel isolated or intimidated.
Following that, the PPKS Task Force conducted a thorough examination of witnesses and the Reported Party. This process was carried out in accordance with the university's regulations and standard operating procedures (SOP). These steps reflect UGM’s strong commitment to addressing sexual violence cases seriously and transparently in order to foster a safe campus environment for all members.
