PLOT

Exposition : The film Approaching Death tells the story of a mother named Sekar who has to struggle to support her children. He opened a food stall as a source of income. Her three children support their mother's activities.

It's just that Sekar runs his business in a dangerous way. He carried out a pesugihan procession so that his merchandise would sell quickly. This was done with the help of a Penglaris shaman named Mak Ambar.

Rising action : Since the best seller was installed in Sekar's food stall, the food served has often been sold out. However, Sekar has recently found that food goes stale quickly as soon as it is served. He then wanted to express this surprise to Mak Ambar.

Movie_analysis Fathya kayesha

 1. Protagonist: Otto, Marisol, Tommy, Jimmy, Reuben, Anita, Malcolm.

Antagonist: the house property's owner.

2. In the beginning Otto has a grumpy and arrogant personality, but he becomes a very heartwarming person when he met Marisol and her family and they're always care about Otto.

3. No, because the title doesn't describe the allure of the film.

4. When Otto wanted to try to commit suicide, but he remembered that he had to persist and not give up easily. The next day he helped Ruben and Anita not move to a nursing home.

5. Character Vs character, character Vs himself, character Vs environment.

Movie_Analysis (A Man Called Otto)

Menjawab:

1. Tokoh Utama : Otto Anderson
     Antagonis : Marisol

2. - At the beginning Otto is Arrogant, not            friendly ,he looks at other people idiot.
    - At the end Otto change his views about          other people, especially his neighbor.            He became friendly, humble, at the end.

3. No. I think at the earlier that the title              doesn't really explain the whole plot.
There's lot of plot twist in the movie.

4. In my view, the climax of the movie is           when Otto passed away. Damn, it was so         sad

5. Maybe Character vs Environment.

6. This what I got from the movie :
We can't live alone. No matter how         much we tried to live alone, in some situation we need help from people. So be kind.

Movie_Analysis ( Fahri Febrian Prasetyo)

 1. Who are the protagonists? Who are the antagonists?

Protagonists: Otto (or Ove, depending on the version you're referring to) is the main protagonist. His neighbors, particularly Marisol and her family, also play important roles in helping him.

Antagonists: The antagonists are less defined as traditional villains but include the bureaucratic systems and circumstances that frustrate Otto, like the real estate developers trying to take over his neighborhood and the sense of loneliness he feels after losing his wife, Sonya.

2. How is the main character’s personality in the beginning of the movie? Does he change in the end? Why/why not?

Beginning Personality: Otto starts off as a grumpy, isolated, and bitter old man. He is strict about rules and seems annoyed by everyone around him.

Change: By the end of the movie, Otto changes significantly. He becomes more open, compassionate, and connected to the people around him, particularly through his interactions with Marisol and her family. This change is due to his realization that life can still hold meaning and connection, despite the pain of losing his wife.

3. Does the title give you hints of the plot? Why/why not?

Title Interpretation: The title A Man Called Otto (or Ove in the original) hints at the focus on a specific individual’s life. It suggests that the movie will delve into who Otto is, his backstory, and how he interacts with the world around him. The simplicity of the title reflects the ordinary yet profound life of the main character.

4. What is the climax of the movie?

Climax: The climax occurs when Otto is faced with a situation that forces him to fully engage with the community he has been pushing away. This is often depicted in scenes where he has to help his neighbors in a crisis, and in doing so, he breaks out of his shell.

5. What is the type of conflict you find in the climax?

Conflict Type: The primary conflict is internal, with Otto battling his grief, loneliness, and desire to push people away. However, there is also an external conflict involving the threat to his neighborhood by developers.

6. What can you conclude from it?

Conclusion: The story concludes that human connection and the willingness to let others into your life can bring healing and purpose, even after profound loss. Otto's transformation shows the importance of community and the potential for personal growth at any stage of life.
